Here & Now
Garden Variety was formed in 1989 in the crucible Los Angeles music scene. The band became a regular at the almost all the vibrant venues in 90s LA. They were influenced by their friendship and the times. They have been described as unhinged, beautiful, dynamic and fun and sometimes as f#%kin’ hippies, but with a sound that was much more dynamic. In 1992, Garden Variety was signed by Racer Records and officially released their first album, then changed their name to Garden and released a second.
These days Garden's original members are split across the globe, raising a new generation of artist and musicians in their highly creative families. They are currently the main subject of a documentary on creativity careerism and the music scene of the 90s.
